Introducing
THE ENVIRONMENT PROJECT
We believe in the transformative power of community, creativity, and action to tackle the urgent challenges of climate change. With the support of Arts Council funding and inspired by the vision of Small Nose, 2025 marks the development of a groundbreaking educational experience. This initiative combines storytelling, environmental awareness, and creative expression to empower participants to imagine and actively contribute to a more sustainable future.
WHAT IS THE ENVIRONMENT PROJECT?
The Environment Project invites students and the public to embark on a collaborative exploration of climate change. With support from our valued partners—Norwich Theatre Royal, Action Against Hunger, Peterborough Environment City Trust, Larkwood Lakes, and Jumped Up Theatre—we aim to inspire participants to rethink how small actions can create significant, lasting change.
Guided by the vision of Small Nose, this initiative will foster a sense of community through workshops, expert conversations, and creative exercises, culminating in the creation of ‘A New Climate Change Story.’
This project combines a versatile new show—designed to be performed in any setting, from theatres and school halls to festivals—with a series of interactive workshops. The workshops can accompany the show or stand alone, offering flexible opportunities to engage and empower participants to imagine and take action for a more sustainable future.
KEY LEARNING STRANDS
1. Environmental Awareness
Learn about the key challenges facing our planet, including climate change, food waste, and the impact of CO2 on the environment. Discover how these issues affect our daily lives and explore ways we can make a difference.
2. Community storytelling
Through meaningful conversations with climate experts, food banks, and local organizations, our Small Nose community will uncover real-world insights into the causes and solutions to climate challenges. These shared stories will become the foundation for creative activities, connecting us all to the urgency and importance of driving change.
3. Creative exploration
We transform ideas into action through innovative tools like clowning, half-mask performance, poetry, and filmmaking. This collaborative process will culminate in the creation of ‘A New Climate Change Story,’ an engaging series of interactive climate-change workshops. By combining playfulness with imagination, participants will explore serious issues in ways that inspire understanding and action.
4. Collective action
Take part in a series of community sharing events that celebrate collective knowledge and creativity. From intimate workshops to larger gatherings, these events are designed to inspire meaningful action and demonstrate how everyone can contribute to a more sustainable future.
